Alternative Herbal Products
Alternative Herbal Products (P) Ltd. (AHP) well-known branding of products and engaged in Nepal as a Social Corporate Responsible (CSR) company.
Since 1998 it has been engaging in the trade of herbs and food supplementary organic certified products. Community-based trade is a fundamental principle of AHP business.
AHP outsources most of the herbs/ingredients to prepare the products from primary groups/ producers of Nepal.
AHP has a trading relationship with Primary producer groups as it provides a fair price for raw materials, other inputs, and wages.
Besides, AHP also help the community for the capacity building make them able to invest in the resources.
Apart from ensuring a fair treatment to the communities, AHP is equally responsible for the sustainable management of the natural resources and minimise overexploitation by respecting rights to sustainably manage their resources.
AHP is awarded by Nepal Government and World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Nepal In 2011 and Surya Nepal Asha Social Entrepreneurship Award in 2012

To emerge as a leading and capable herbal company for the self sufficiency and development of local entrepreneurs to enhance their livelihood by using locally available natural resource.
AHPs mission is to be a establish linkage and coordination with farmers/group/cooperatives and entrepreneurs of high quality herbal and organic agro products to the markets through bio-diversity conservation.
The main objective of AHP is to support local poor producers in the remote area through bio-diversity conservation to produce and deliver high quality herbal and organic agro products.
Other objectives sets to achieve the main objective are:
- To provide the technical backstopping
- To facilitate for the cultivation, harvesting and semi processing
- To make them assure for the buy back guarantee
- To establish linkage with national and international markets
Social and Environmental Impact
All products are produced without any negative impacts on environment as AHP never use harmful chemicals during the processing of herbs.
Sustainable harvesting of resources/Non Timbers Forest Products like Bael fruits, Chiuri, Dhatelo, Seabuckthorn, Soapnut and other herbal spices are introduced at community forest users groups (CFUG) level. AHP has been encouraging communities to grow as many as possible/potential herbs on their farm. The community have established nursery and has been distributing the plant/herb to members of the community.
